Sound Machines & Night Lights

Steady sound and one dim colour, for rooms where sleep has to be coaxed rather than commanded.

Sound Machines & Night Lights

Six models sit in this department, and we at ANJANK built them for three different rooms. A nursery wants a soft loop and a low glow. A city bedroom wants something loud enough to cover a street. A guest room wants a clock that also plays the radio.

The sound libraries run from eight wake-up tones on the small radio to twenty-five loops on the smart sunrise model. All of them include white, pink and brown noise, and all of them can be set to stop after one to four hours instead of running until morning.

Choosing

Which one belongs in which room

The dome models with the touch top are the family workhorses: 21 sounds, Bluetooth, seven night light colours and a dimmer that goes to nothing. They come in grey, black, white and pink, and the pink one exists because children choose it.

The fabric clock radio is the quiet one. FM tuning, two alarms, eight sounds, a warm beige finish and no Bluetooth. It is the model owners of decades-old clock radios tend to pick, and it is also the model whose lowest light step some people still find too bright.

The smart sunrise clock is the outlier. Light climbs before the alarm goes off, the sound library runs to twenty-five loops, and the app sets up to fifteen alarms for different days. It needs a Wi-Fi network and a phone, and it is the one model here where setup is a job rather than a switch.

What people write about this department

Verbatim from reviews of these models, low ratings included.

But even on the lowest setting, the glow from the numbers was too bright for me.

jpatton, 3 out of 5, 14 July 2026

I have it on my bedside table and I listen to my radio till I fall asleep!

Eleanor Huffman, 5 out of 5, 22 June 2026

So I took a chance on this one because it has an app for my phone, even though its more than I wanted to spend on a clock...

Questions

Asked often enough to answer here

How loud should a sound machine be in a child's room?

Lower than most people set it, and further from the cot than most people put it. Noise limits published by NIOSH start at 85 dBA for eight hours of exposure at work, and a nursery is not a workplace, so keep the machine across the room and the volume down.

Does the sound stop by itself?

Yes. Sleep timers run one, two, three or four hours on the dome models, and one minute to 24 hours on the smart sunrise clock.

Is the night light bright enough to read by?

No, and it should not be. It is a marker for a dark room, not a reading lamp.

Can I play my own music instead?

On the Bluetooth models, yes. The fabric radio takes FM only.

Sound helps a room, but it does not replace the basics. The CDC lists a quiet, dark, cool bedroom and a steady schedule ahead of anything you can plug in.

A vibrating puck under the pillow, a speaker pointed at the room and a light that climbs. For sleepers a beep alone has never reached.
